I am an author, academic and advisor specialising in the role and limitations of empathy and emotions in security, international affairs, politics, leadership, and society.

I have recently started a new role as Senior Lecturer at the Australian War College, Deakin University, in Canberra. This follows two years in Denmark where I was working as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in the Center for War Studies at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense. In this role, I led a project on Empathy and International Security (EIS), funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Fund.

Bridging academia and policy-making, my research explores how a better understanding of the power and potential of empathy and emotions can shape strategy and policy, and transform how we think about security, leadership, and politics.
